Today, I spent my Saturday to join Bakti BCA (Bank Central Asia) Seminar. Really, I get a lot from there. I will share with you, what I get, I hope it brings benefit for you.

Ok, the seminar consists of 2 speakers. First, Mr Alvin Soleh from KMPlus Consulting. Second, Mrs Wani Sabu as Head of HaloBCA. Here, I will focus to share the content of seminar from Mr Alvin Soleh.

1. Learning and innovation are hands by hand. It means that you can't make an innovation without learning something. Today, all of the business aspects need an innovation, without innovation, your business will face the bankruptcy. Mr Alvin take a Nokia as the example, Nokia doesn't do wrong, It just doing nothing and the bankruptcy happen to the Nokia. And many more example. You just need to do nothing to get failed in your life.

2. Bussines world preparation for students: a. Early exposure to work and career planning. You don't need to wait until you are graduated from university to feel the business world. As soon as you expose your self, It will guide you to study what do you actually need. b. Using online tools to better assess your skills. It means that, Nowadays, business world needs a professional people. So, if you need job about x, you better certify your self in x. Already many topics that can you learn by yourself from the internet, So nothing to be the problem if you want to learn something even though you study in other major. But, need to be underlined here, the company want to hire certified people. c. Experiential learning that reflects modern workplaces. He gives us (the audience) example. What do you choose, a person who spent 10 years to read about pilot manual or a person who spent just 5 years to read about pilot manual plus 5 years to drive the aeroplane? Of course, we will choose the second person, right? So the point is what did you study in class is just a knowledge until you try to practice your knowledge in modern workplace to be beneficial knowledge. d. Mastering soft skills, like communication and problem-solving. It is really right, guys. Mr Alvin said, your GPA will accompany you to pass the first door in the job application, further, you need your soft skill to make your interviewer choose you. You should good in communicating your strength so the job will be yours. Mr Alvin said nobody will know about what do you want, what do you need, about how intelligent you are, how wise you are if you can't communicate it well. So, don't ask everyone to guess what is your condition, but communicate it well. And, don't forget that communication is not just about your speaking skill. Communication also needs hearing skill to understand the others. e. Bussines and school partnership to provide real-world experience.

Hmm.. What's again? I get many quotes that I think it is very gorgeous. 1. The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who can not learn, unlearn and relearn. 2. Winners make goals, losers make excuses. 3. Eat the frog! hahaha.. I think I should give an explanation about this quotes. Haha. The point is if you face many problems, don't hide from the problems and find the other problem to solve. Because the problem that you have, never disappear. It may appear in the next time. So, solved that big/main problem, first.

To the end of the session, I have one question. I ask Mr Alvin about the social media in this digital era, any positive correlation between existence in social media and career path? Is it wrong if I isolate my self from social media like Instagram, facebook, etc? Mr Alvin says that in this era, HRD like to investigate their candidate through their social media account. So you can't isolate your self from the social media. Need to remember that there are 3 types of social media content, there are complaining, the portfolio of achievement, and the picture of your face. The second is best for you. Make your social media account as the proof for your achievement and your good activities.

Deep of my heart ask, is it ok to show off our achievement through social media?
